Drawing, sketching, and painting have always been calming activities for me. Graphics from video games were my early inspirations. I was inspired by the worlds of Zelda and Mario and wanted to create my own versions on paper or canvas. As this love became an academic study, I found a new interest in learning how to achieve any color I desired using historic and contemporary primaries. I began to experiment with different color combinations when painting pictures. I have gained an appreciation for the value of learning traditional techniques and the growth that can only come through discipline and practice.
My original art reflects my desire to take people on a journey to fantastical worlds of my own creation. I hope it will offer others an escape from the worries of the real world and give them a sense of comfort and calm. While my compositions are grounded in what I love about the natural world: the sky, flowing rivers, trees and mountains, I use unlikely colors to evoke a sense of otherworldliness. I want to invite imagination and find joy in the unexpected.
